The Mental Toughness Coaching Process

DISCOVERY - Identify the current mental game challenges keeping you from performing your best

This is where the Athletes Mental Aptitude Profile assessment comes into play. Before our first session, you will complete the assessment. I will then create follow-up questions to perform a deep dive during our first call. This will be where we work together to get to the core of the mental game challenges keeping you from performing your best.

PLANNING - Outline a mental training plan to turn your weaknesses into strengths

Once your current challenges are identified, I will create a custom plan for you. Mental coaching for athletes is truly personalized. There is no one size fits all approach. I will create a plan that is completely tailored to you. One that will turn your current weaknesses into strengths to help you become the player you know you want be.

MENTAL MASTERY FUNDAMENTALS - Once you have your fundamentals, your program will be further adapted to your personal and sport-specific needs

Every athlete, regardless of age, experience or sport will begin with the fundamentals of mental training. These include goal setting, recognizing and resetting thinking patterns, learning to stay calm under pressure, using detailed imagery skills, and how to build confidence. Programs go far beyond these basics, but this is where mental toughness begins!

ACCOUNTABILITY - Track your progress daily and weekly in mental mastery app!

A huge part of confidence is earning it. Our goal setting and activities tracking system will confirm that you’re doing the work to feel prepared and ready to do your best. No more guesswork, it’s all there in clear view for you to take action and see your progress.

Hi Ken! Just wanted to shoot over a quick email to let you know that once again, your workshops with my dancers are helping in so many ways. Since the last time we’ve seen you, two of our dancers, Coleen and Kelly, have both won their third 1st place moving them up to the highest level in Irish dance… open championship.

Maura- who has been super quiet and reserved her whole life, won a 3rd in prelim championship and 9th overall which is amazing.

Finally, we have Nicole. Nicole is the girl who inspired me to contact you in the first place. She’s a beautiful dancer, but had a habit of overthinking and choking on stage. At the last feis she won 1st place in one of her dancers and a judge placed her 1st overall – total outcome was 4th overall. We all cried of happiness.

When I first met with Ken I was experiencing a shooting slump and I wasn’t sure how exactly to approach it from a mental standpoint. We talked through how to keep confidence regardless of whether or not shots were failing and worked on different techniques in order to make sure that the mental side of the game wasn’t taking away from performance. In addition to working on mindset in games, Ken worked with me on mentally visualizing success in different scenarios and helped me build confidence to feel better prepared for game time situations. Ken helped me also begin to train the mental side of my game by encouraging a conscious reflection about how I mentally approached different situations in a game.
